Five In The Morning - Mel Afoa

It's five in the morning, and we keep going back and forth,
screaming at the other, distance of south and north,

Arguing about who's been seeing who and where,
Both of us questioning each other for secrets to share,

Falling out of love, heartbreak about to blind my heart,
angry at the fact we can't trust each other, and its tearing us apart,

Five in the morning, and our words keep getting stronger,
swearing at each other, our sentences stretch longer,

Wondering when everything will come to an end,
too busy shouting at each other to call a back-up friend,

Glasses are crashing, vases are falling, tears like a river,
pain and sorrow seeping from our hearts to the liver,

Grabbing each other's stuff and throwing it on the floor,
Screaming at each other to get the hell out of the door,

One tries to move, and then the other tries to block,
Screams and cries soon make the other turn the lock,

Five-something in the morning, and the screams still fly,
Looking at each other, whilst our hearts start to cry,

Wind blowing inside from the windows, seeping through the crack,
And then realisation hits when we find out it's love we lack,

Love went out the door when we both took the wrong turn,
The other boy and the other girl leaving us to burn,

Looking at each other with the awkwardness in the air,
Hearts trying to recover, trying to make the dare,

So I walk up to you, and I take you in my hold,
Your fingers weaving through my hair, our hearts still cold,

We say our sorrys, and soon our hearts start to love,
five-something in the morning, first crows and now a dove,

Your lips touch mine softly, and forgiveness still hanging on a string,
hearts mending softly, the sound a hum, a ding.
