Never Ever - Mel Afoa
Sitting here
listening to Kanye,
The word
‘heartless’ etched into my head,
Wondering
when everything started to go pear-shaped,
Was it
something I said?
Thought you
and I were meant to be,
Thought
there was a reason we were together,
Never thought
there was an actual finishing line,
Never ever.
To describe
you as ‘heartless’ would be the best description,
Coz that is
exactly what you are,
Beautiful as
a mystique sunset, yet flawed to the core,
Innocent as
the halo of an angel, yet poison like tar.
My love for
you was eventually one-sided,
Seeing as
you never thought we’d be ‘forever’,
Never
thought I’d be the only one thinking so,
Never ever.
Indeed was I
a downright fool for believing, not seeing,
That I was
not the only one who held your heart.
So many
others that fell victim to your games,
Could you
even tell us apart?
Trusted you
enough to give you my all,
Spoiled you
rotten in jewellery, gold, leather.
Never
thought I’d be played, and even cheated on,
Never ever.
Trying to
pick up the pieces now,
Crushed by a
human so heartless,
Piecing
pieces back with cheap glue and useless sticky tape,
Vacuuming
this mess.
Putting
things back together, brooming up the pieces,
In this
gloomy weather.
Never
looking, walking and running back,
Never ever.
