Dead Hearts - Mel Afoa

"I'm sorry", I whispered.
He took back his hands on my face. I turned silently away, tears streaming down my face as the moon glowed brightly, decorated wth the stars in the night sky.
"Andre...", I turned back to him to see his figure walking away. He stopped, and slowly turned around, face sullen and expression angry. As i stepped towards him, he shook his head and proceeded to walk away.
"Please, Andre!", i cried, the presence of tears still falling silently.
He turned abrutly and stared at me, shoulder hunched and fists brawled.
" You lied Melisande, lied!", he shouted, his body shaking with anger. I could only put my hands on my face and hope for his arms to wrap around me again.
" You cheated on me, and you think that's okay?", his voice screeched, dripping with fury. My hands fell and i stepped towards him, only to have him step back once more. My silence only encouraged him to walk away. He took one more glance at my small frame, before heading out of the door.
"Wait!", i sobbed, and ran out the door, the wind's howl forcing me to hesitate. Running onto the verandah, i tried to spot which direction he went to. Nothing. I wiped the tears and smudged my eyeliner as i ran into the middle of the street, looking around for my beloved. The wind blew the trees harshly, and the moons light only grew brighter. Slowly, i walked back into the house, the sounds of a neighbour's party still heard in the nightsky.
---
"You look lonely Melisande", he said seductively.
I could only smile and watch as his arms gripped my waist and pushed me towards the dance floor. Without a moment's hesitation, he clicked his hand and the sound of the tango beat came blasting on the speakers. I could hear the faint sounds of the people cheering me on. I could hear the faint sounds of the rhythmic music.
"You wanna dance?", he whispered in my ear.
Something told me it was wrong. So i nodded and wrapped my arms around his neck.
" Lets dance, Jackson", I replied.
The music was loud and fast, as we tangoed under the moon sky. His body fitted with mine, face close to mine. His blue eyes sparkled like a light in the night sky. His arms travelled from my shoulders and slowly moved their way down. I moaned as we moved in closer, my body craving for more. We danced as the music wrapped around us, pushing into our veins. I whispered huskily in his ear, and i saw the evil smile on his face. I could only gigle as he lifted me up instantly and weaved his way through the party crowd towards the steps which led to the small bedroom.
---
Dusk was coming.
The sun was beginning to appear through the soft, white curtains on the window. The air was fresh, the winter breeze dancing its way through the streets. Birds were chirpping on the frozen trees, and the sound of the TV fullblast could be heard from next door.
He sat up, wondering why he had a headache. He screamed silently as the pain coursed through his body, leaving a mark of hurt and agony. Remembering the night before, he shook his head with anger.
He remembered how the key of his heart had played with his feelings.
Yawning slightly, he sat up and looked towards the window. His hand hit a small paper on his bed. Looking down, he noticed an envelope with his name on the front. He looked at the small envelope with confusion. Sighing, he opened the it slowly.
A piece of paper fell out of the pocket, its corners bent slightly. Slowly he read its content as the wind danced into the bedroom around him.

Andre,
I'm sorry.
I am sorry for hurting you, for doing the dirty on you.
And for that, I deserve to suffer, I deserve pain.
Pain was your best friend last night. Today it is mine.
I love you my Andre, but I will never forgive myself.
Tell my parents i loved them, and it wasn't their fault.
I hope you accomplish your dreams, your wishes.

                               Melisande

His scream was lost as a car passing through the street hit full blast.

---
She lay there dying, blood leaving her body.
A single knife was pushed into her chest, to release her pain. She had given a letter to her love, and now she was ready. She was ready to let regret eat her heart. She was ready to let evil take over her and drag her down. She was ready to sacrifice herself, to leave the blue sky and yellow sun. She was ready.
---
He stood there, a single tear leaving a mark down his features. His green eyes were directed towards the black coffin being placed into the ground. He slowly threw the red rose into the grave, and then a golden necklace after it. He turned away, turned his back on the past, turned away on the black suits and black memories.
---
Dirt was being thrown onto the coffin. On the coffin was a golden necklace wrapped around one of the spiky roses. It had a few words inscripted into its delicate gold.
" She who holds the key to my heart ", glittered before the brown earth covered it forever.

( If you didn't get it, the story is about a girl who commits suicide after cheating on her boyfriend. The whole story is taken through different point of views. First hers and then his, but the story goes foward to when he walks away after finding out, to when it all started, then him getting a letter of her letting go, to her funeral. )
