Rejected - Mel Afoa
Copyright The guy i like, my best friend,
likes the girl across the street.
To him, shes just perfection.
My best friend pays attention,
to that girl, who, with blonde hair
and dark blue eyes, model figure,
has the obvious popular reputation.
He talks about her at every moment
as we walk across a frozen beach,
the cold breeze smacking my face,
and making him wish her arms were
wrapped around his muscular hold.
He asks me if i like her personality,
and i can do is nod and smile, after all,
she is my best friend's girl.
She walks across the street, phone in hand.
As she passes my house, i plan an attack,
slowly picking up the littered can by my side.
She spots me and hastily smiles, before turning
the quiet street corner. I remain silent and frozen.
I wrestle with the feelings i have inside.
Should i tell him? Should i not? Should i leave?
I want him to know i have loved him for eternity.
I walk across to his house, neatly dressed for the occasion.
I see him playing ball in the backyard.
As i begin to open up my broken heart, he stops me,
telling me he has big news. i just smile and let him talk.
He looks at me slowly, beautiful smile etched on his features,
i float and tingle within. I ask him what the big news is.
He brings out a box from his pocket, and puts it in my right hand.
I gaze at the small box, and open it up slowly, cautious, nervously.
A small ring is neatly seated in the box, ring of old, vintage gold.
My heart bubbles and my mind is going immedietly to our wedding,
and i scream and hug my best friend. he smirks and laughs,
apparently pleased and wraps his arms around my waist.
I look into his eyes, mine full of love and happiness.
He suddenly lets me go, too focused in his thoughts,
and looks at me and asks the simple question,
that ruined my life and made me break in two.
" Do you think she will like it ? "
She appears out of nowhere, my best friends girl.
He runs to her, holds her face in his muscular arms,
and gives her the kiss of life. I can hear my heart tearing.
He turns, smiles at me, then walks away with her.
I fall down on the grass slowly, closing my eyes,
my heart and soul ripping further with every second.
Death is coming closer, inviting me with open arms.
My tears fall rapidly to the floor, letting all water out,
and i scratch and claw the grass to ease my pain.
